Following Directions | Understanding Instructions | Critical Thinking | Reading | Writing| Math | Drawing
This bundle of three books include a wide variety of activities for students of all skill levels to practice the essential skill of following directions. The books contain activities that progress in difficulty. The directions become more complex with more steps to follow. More challenging directions develop higher levels of critical thinking skills.
Each book asks students to use their language, reading comprehension, writing, math, and art skills. They will also use reasoning, logic, and visualization skills that develop critical thinking.
The colorful, engaging activities challenge students to think using a variety of methods. Mastering the skill of following directions gives students an important tool for success in school as well as in daily life.
Following Directions Level 1
This book can be used as an introduction to the skill of following directions. It contains a variety of easy-to-follow instructions using colorful and engaging images. The main purpose of each activity is to reinforce this necessary skill through practice using familiar objects and familiar types of instructions. The activities are appropriate for students in grade 2 and up. As well as for older students struggling with this particular skill.
Following Directions Level 2
This book builds on the skills featured in the Level 1 book. The more challenging directions take students to the next level of following directions through practice with everyday situations that upper elementary (and older) students might encounter: following the directions on a medicine label, understanding walking and bike riding directions, performing first aid, following a recipe, and more.
Following Directions Level 3
For students who are ready for more complex instructions, this book features directions with several steps that will challenge a higher level of critical thinking skills. Activities include labeling a blueprint, finding hidden words, learning emergency first aid, making a seating chart, and giving directions as well as following them. The activity scenarios are appropriate for students in grades 4 and up.
